November 2026 · Spain launches its deposit scheme
From November 2026 you will pay a deposit on every can and bottle, and you will have to return them to get it back. Go Consigne has been doing that job in Canada for years: we come to your home, count your containers and pay you. No queues, no machines, no hauling bags to the supermarket.
4.5/5 on Google · Over 40,000 customers in Canada
Already running in Canada
Go Consigne started in Quebec, where deposit returns have existed for decades and where the scheme has just been extended to every container. We collect at home from thousands of households, bars, offices and shops. That is exactly the service we want to bring to Spain.
We are not starting from scratch: the service exists, it works and it already has customers. What is left is bringing it here.
Limited quantity
The Go Consigne white bin is small and made for indoor use: it fits in the laundry room, the kitchen or any corner of your flat, and keeps your returnable containers tidy until pickup day. Join the waiting list and we will set one aside for you, free of charge.
Offer limited to available stock.

A deposit-return scheme works like this: you pay a few cents extra when you buy a drink, and you get that amount back when you return the empty container. The money is yours from day one — but it only comes back to you if the container makes it back into the system.
Cans, plastic bottles and glass drink bottles will each carry an extra amount on your receipt, container by container.
If the container ends up in the recycling bin or the rubbish, that money is gone. For a family, that is tens of euros a year.
Returns will happen at machines and return points in supermarkets and shops: getting there, queueing, and feeding containers in one at a time.
Spain is about to roll out tens of thousands of return points in a matter of months. Every country that has been through this has lived the same first months, and they are not comfortable ones.
A machine takes a few seconds per container. With a bag of a hundred cans and three people ahead of you, returning stops being a quick errand.
When the internal bin fills up or the scanner fails, the machine stops accepting containers until someone empties it. And you come back another day.
A dented can, a torn label, an unreadable barcode: the machine spits it out and that deposit goes unpaid.
Empty containers are bulky and heavy. Without a car, or living on the fourth floor, stockpiling so you only go once is not much of a solution either.
The deposit stays yours either way. The question is how much time and how many trips you are willing to spend getting it back.
Three steps, and none of them involves leaving the house.
Pile up cans and bottles in a bag or in the white bin. No counting, no sorting, no separating by brand.
You pick the day that suits you and leave the bag at the agreed spot. You do not need to be home when we come by.
We count your containers at our centre and pay you the deposit value minus our commission. Or you donate it to a cause you choose.
Optimised routes and neighbourhood-level pickups: speed of service is exactly what a scheme expects from an experienced operator.
All we ask of you
For the count to work, the bag cannot contain food waste, liquid or general rubbish. Empty the container, cap it if you like, drop it in the bag. That is your entire job.
38%
Go Consigne keeps 38% of the deposit value of the containers we collect. The rest is yours — paid back to you, or donated to a cause you choose.
No sign-up fee, no subscription, nothing to pay upfront. If we collect nothing, we charge nothing.
Be among the first to get home collection when the deposit scheme goes live in your area.
Signing up commits you to nothing and costs nothing. Every sign-up is evidence that Spain wants home collection — and that list is what we will bring to the table when we put our candidacy to the Spanish deposit-return scheme.
Still wondering? Here are the answers.
It is due to come into force in November 2026. From then on you will pay a deposit on every drink container and you will be able to claim it back by returning them at the designated return points.
Go Consigne picks up your returnable containers at home — the cans and bottles you already paid a deposit on. You keep them at home, we collect them along optimised routes, so you never have to feed them back into a supermarket machine one by one.
It is a service that has been running in Canada for years, with more than 40,000 household and business customers and an average rating of 4.5/5 on Google. Spain would be our next market: what we bring is a proven service and the experience of running it day to day.
There is no sign-up fee and no subscription. Go Consigne keeps 38% of the deposit value of the containers we collect, taken straight out of the amount — so you never pay anything upfront. If we collect nothing, we charge nothing.
You can, of course. But the network starts from scratch: expect queues, full or broken machines and rejected containers in the first months. We come to your home on the day that suits you and save you the trip, the wait and the bags.
We will open area by area once the scheme goes live, and the postal code you give us when you join is exactly what tells us where to start. We will email you when your turn comes.
In transparent bags of 60 litres or more, closed and tied. Cans and plastic bottles can go in the same bag. The key point is no food waste and no liquid.
A contaminated bag cannot be counted: it soils the containers and the bag has to be discarded. That is why it is the one condition of the service. Empty each container before it goes in, and never mix rubbish with containers.
No. Counting is done mechanically and the barcode on every container has to be readable: crushed or damaged containers are rejected and cannot be paid back.
No. Both the labels and the caps must always remain on the bottles. The labels contain the barcode required by our automated counting system; without it, the container will be rejected. The cap must also stay securely on the bottle to prevent any remaining liquid from leaking into the bag.
When we pick up your bag, we attach a tag linking it to your address and your account. That is how we identify your bag when it reaches the processing centre, and how the right amount ends up back with you.
It is a small indoor bin for storing your returnable containers until pickup day. It is not required to use the service, but it keeps your home tidy. Right now we give one away to everyone who joins the waiting list, while stocks last.
Yes. Bars, restaurants, offices and shops can use the service just like households — and they are the ones piling up the most containers. Join the waiting list and we will get in touch when we open in your area.
Two things. For you: being among the first to get pickups when we open in your area, plus the free white bin. For us: proving there is real demand for home collection in Spain when we put our candidacy to the deposit-return scheme.
We only use it to tell you when the service launches in your area. It is never shared with third parties and you can unsubscribe at any time; our legal notice explains how.
